Zak. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by Martin Zak that was taken near Mount Union, Pennsylvania, during June of 1954. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #5890 and another E-8A whose number is not recorded. Both are EP-22's built by GM-EMD and rated at 2,250 horsepower each; #5890 was built in April of 1950. They have just passed under Signal Bridge #2007 with an 11-car passenger train on their way from Harrisburg to Altoona and points West. |

Winter. Here is an original photo that I took of a Pennsylvania Railroad train in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 03 January 1965. Shown here (L to R) are PRR engines #5809, #5842-B, and #5890. All were built by EMD. #5809 is an EP-22 built in 1951 and rated at 2,250 horsepower. #5824-B is an EP-20 built in 1947 and rated at 2,000 horsepower. #5890 is an EP-22 built in 1950 and rated at 2,250 horsepower. They are pulling a 19-car westbound passenger train and are about to stop at the Altoona Passenger Station; the time is 2:11 P.M. Visible in the background are some of the PRR's Passenger Car Shops. |
