Title:
PRR 6472, J-1, #2 of 2, 1957
Description:
Here is the second of two successive original photos by John S. Fisher that were taken in Columbus, Ohio, in May of 1957. Caption On Reverse: "PRR 'J.' Columbus, Ohio. May, 1957." Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6472, a J-1 (2-10-4) "Texas" built in Juniata in February of 1943 and retired in April of 1958 after just 15 years of service. Visible just beyond the "J" is an A-B-A set of GM-EMD "EF" Class diesel-electric locomotives; their kind will soon displace all steam power on the PRR.
