This loco was built by Baldwin in January of 1903 as a Vauclain compound 2-6-2 engine. It was rebuilt and simplified in November of 1918 at the ATSF Topeka Shops. After a long service record, it was donated to Dodge City, KS in 1954 as a static display for the Boot Hill Park. Jim Lockart took the photo in the summer of 1965 during one of his trips west. Rebuilt specs - 69" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 23.5x28" cylinders, engine wt of 235,200 lb and tractive effort of 38,150 lb. |
