Piecing together the history of this loco has been a challenge. It was originally built for the Dierks Lumber & Coal Company by Baldwin Locomotive in May of 1927. Sometime after retirement, it was on dispaly at the company's yard in De Queen, AK. Later it showed up as a "display" engine at the Eureka Springs & North Arkansas RR. It was never restored to operating condition. Since this photo was taken somtime in the 1990's, the loco has moved on to Anna, TX and is up for sale as of 2023. Partial original specs - coal-burner converted to oil, 180 psi boiler pressure, superheated. Rail fan Jim Lockart took this color slide whle visiting there sometime in the 1990's. |
