Blackhawk. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide via Fred Byerly that was taken at the 46th Street Enginehouse in West Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in June of 1966. Photo Caption: "RT-624, Pennsylvania N. 8956. Philadelphia, Pa. June 1966." PRR #8956 is a BS-24M built by Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton in September of 1951, rated at 2,400 horsepower, and retired in July of 1966 after just 15 years of revenue service. This photo comes from a color slide set entitked "Baldwins in Action ~ On North-Eastern Railroads" that's produced and distributed by Blackhawk Films of Davenport, Iowa (892-50). |
