HLCX 1042 and SOO 138  Contributor's Pick!
A FV&LS (or FOXY) train parallels Montgomery St. as it passes Memorial Park and the Heritage Historical Village as it heads south via former CN, historically C&NW, rails at New London, WI, on 13 Nov. '22. It is neat to find a former C&NW locomotive plying former C&NW rails. SOO 138 stands to the right. Built in 1888 by Lafayette Car Works, Lafayette, IN, for the DSS&A. Purchased by the SOO in 1891 and used into the ‘60s. William Winkler, Appleton, bought it from Rawhide Boys Ranch, where it had been used for storage, and donated it to the Heritage Historical Village in ’90. The 1923 C&NW New London depot is partially visible in the background to the right.
