Westing. Here is a photo that was published originally in Fred Westing's 1974 book entitled "Pennsy Steam And Semaphores," page 94. Partial Caption: "Bridge structure as used in 1902 supports upper quadrant signals as train No. 11, westbound St. Louis-Southwestern Mail passes under it. Train is climbing grade leading to Horseshoe Curve, and pulled by an M1 class engine No. 6884...." Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6884, an M-1 (4-8-2) "Mountain" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during October of 1926 and retired in October of 1949 after 23 years of faithful service.
