| Here is the third of three original photos by Douglas C. Jones that were taken at the Pennsylvania Railroad's East Altoona Roundhouse in the Juniata section of Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1953. Shown here is an unidentified Class M-1 (4-8-2) "Mountain" steam locomotive parked at the 17th Street Bridge, waiting to enter the Roundhouse. Note that it still has its original ~ i.e., non -"coast-to-coast" ~ tender that's equipped with a "doghouse" and a train phone antenna. |
