CSX 7585, CRL 543, and WC 7499 are on Q-417 at CP-5 in Ridgefield Park, NJ 1/2000. I wish I had taken a roster shot of it, but I wanted a picture of the Wisconsin Central SD45. CRL 543 was a former ATSF C30-7 that was part of Conrail Lease. Some non Dash-2 SD40s were also renumbered for the lease fleet. All of them were painted in dip Conrail blue with CRL reporting marks. Conrail got into a bit of trouble as CRL was the reporting marks for Chicago Rail Link. Conrail simply painted out the "L" on most of these locomotives after Chicago Rail Link complained to the FRA. I guess they missed this one. It was eventually bought by Helm Leasing and rebuilt to a C36-7EM and painted into UP Livery. The rebuilds were not successful and UP returned them to Helm and it may have returned to CSX for a time. I dont know where it wound up as I cannot find any photos newer than 2004. I think it became razor blades. |
