| This stainless steel fluted car was built by the Budd Company in December of 1946 as NYC #2936 with 56 coach seats. The car served on the NYC Empire State Express between New York City and Buffalo, NY through its transfer to the Penn Central Transportation Company in 1968. In 1971, the car was sold into private ownership, and was rebuilt into a 28-seat parlor car in 1977. The Morristown & Erie Railway acquired the car in the mid-1980s and renamed it Morris County. It was upgraded to full Amtrak standards in the early 2000s, and is now operated by the Morristown & Erie Railway and based at the railroad’s private car storage facility in Whippany, NJ.. |
