New Orleans Public Service car 831 was inbound on the TULANE BELT on St. Charles Avenue at Fern Street, having just turned off of South Carrollton Avenue. It was wearing the window screens that were added to many of the TULANE and ST. CHARLES cars in the late 1940’s and early 1950’s. These were used to protect riders from the vegetation along the line, but didn’t last long. Car 831 had been built by the J.G. Brill Co. in 1922 and was scrapped in October 1951.
