Illinois Central train No. 6, the northbound PANAMA LIMITED, was leaving New Orleans Union Passenger Terminal with an unusual set of four E-units, instead of the usual two or three. E8A 4027 wore a unique paint scheme, with a wider-than-normal orange band. On all of the IC’s other E-units, the orange band matched that of the railroad’s passenger cars, but on the 4027 the separation line was the batten strip between the upper and lower side sheets.
