"Duplex-Drives," Page 19, 1959
Here is page four of a ten-page cover article by David P. Morgan entitled "Duplex-Drives." It was published originally in the November 1959 issue of "Trains" magazine, page 19. "'The Big Engine' ~ Pennsylvania S-1 6-4-4-6 No. 6100 ~ roars underneath a South Shore overpass near Gary, Ind., with a seemingly endless stream of Tuscan red standard and lightweight passenger equipment behind her 26-1/2-ton, 2430-gallon tender." Photo by Bliss B. Straight, Jr. Engine #6100 was built in Juniata during January of 1939 and retired in January of 1949 after just ten years of revenue service.
