DAPX 210 at Roosevelt Road and Michigan Avenue in Chicago, Illinois on an unknown day in September 1979, Ektachrome by Chuck Zeiler. This was an exhibit at a railroad trade show on the site of the Illinois Central's Central Station, which had been demolished in 1974. At the time of this photo, I was employed by a company with offices on the 52nd floor of the Standard Oil Building ( later, the Amoco Building, I don't know what it's called now ), which is the tall white building in the background. I looked out my office window and noticed a lot of activity where normally there was just empty tracks. I decided to check it out on my lunch hour. As it happened, I was dressed in a business suit so no one questioned my presence without credentials. |
