| A CN unit train of empty centerbeam flatcars passes Neenah Foundry Plant 2 & Plant 3 as it crosses over from the former C&NW main line to the former SOO main line along Harrison St. at the south end of the yard at Neenah, WI on 22 Jun. '18. Plant 2 opened in 1960 and Plant 3 was built in 1967. Plant 1 opened in 1918 and stood about a mile to the north, until it was closed in 1994 and eventually demolished. Nightfall was setting in and I was attempting to use the nose of the leading locomotive to highlight the molten metal which could be seen flowing inside the foundry. Unfortunately, I opened the shutter a little earlier than I wanted to, so the lead locomotive is too far to the right. Also, the molten metal is not quite as noticeable within this scene as I had hoped it would be. C’est la vie! |
