| Our first stop on the way up to Vermont was in Kingston, NY, home of the Catskill Mountain Railroad. Among the many interesting historic pieces stored along the old Ulster & Delaware line through the Catskills was this old Alco RS-1 in the midst of restoration. Built in 1950 for the Wisconsin Central, the unit came to CMRR for the startup of operations in the 1980s. Last run in 1987, it appears that future operation of the locomotive could be a reality due to the recently applied FRA mandated reflective striping applied to the frame. |
