Catching the last rays  Contributor's Pick!       
Signal 251-2 on track 2 about 3 1/2 miles east of Waverly catches the last sun of the day. This was one of several dozen semphores then extant on the line, one of the greatest concentrations of them in the country. This one would last into the 21st Century, finally removed by NS.

Robert Anderson General Illustrates an advantage that semaphores had. If light was out(night indication), day indication (blade) can still be observed.Not to mention can be viewed from any angle, a handy feature for track workers and rail buffs alike. Interesting photo. 6/24/2018 2:28:25 AM
