I spent 3 hours setting up this shot. It is unusual for the fact K&O seldom works on Sunday. The call came over the radio the crew wanted to enter the Newton rail yard, pick up a cut of cars, and head back to McPherson. I checked the time, checked the weather, and checked the water in the creek. When I got to the location 10 minutes ahead of time, I set up my camera and got in the best location to take advantage of the reflection off the water. The K&O train whistle sounded as it approached giving me notice to lock my view finder on the spot. Just as the engine emerged from the trees, a gust of wind came up and rippled the water, ruining my perfect shot. |
