DBGX 6129
Benkelman, in the far southwestern corner of Nebraska, is home to a new grain elevator, which is switched by DeBruce Grain SD9 6129. This venerable EMD product rolled out of the La Grange IL plant as Colorado & Southern 837 in April 1959. The unit was renumbered Burlington Northern 6232 when C&Ss parent railroad, the Chicago Burlington & Quincy, was merged with the Great Northern, Northern Pacific and Spokane Portland & Seattle. The BN would later merge with the Santa Fe, and this engine became, for a short time, Burlington Northern Santa Fe 6129.

Switchman Images General Sadly, this elevator is pretty much what put the nail in the coffin for the NKCR's branch to St. Francis, KS. :( 3/13/2016 10:43:04 AM
