| During the Del Mar Race Season, Amtraks "Pacific Surfliner" trains become a bit more interesting as one train set is made up of older equipment (in order break up one standard high-level train set in order to extend the other train sets). On July 29th, 2011, train 582 departs Fullerton, California, on its way from Los Angeles to San Diego, with F59PHI 464 on the headend, a consist of Horizon and Amfleet cars, an old "Heritage" baggage car and Dash 8-32BWH 503 on the rear. Its a nice break from the usual "Pacific Surfliner" cars for those watching trackside, but I suspect that the passengers would rather have the newer - and nicer - "Surfliner" cars in which to ride. |
