CSS&SB Pullman 5 at the Randolph Street Station in Chicago, Illinois on June 29, 1966, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Number 5 was built by Pullman Car and Manufacturing Company in 1926, part of the first order of ten new cars by the Insull administration to modernize the Chicago Lake Shore & South Bend, which entered recievership February 28, 1925 and was purchased by Samuel Insull's newly formed Chicago South Shore & South Bend Railroad on July 29, 1925 for $6,474,843.00 at auction, the only bid received. |
