INER 5903
CSX went dead once again, and there were posts on Facebook saying that there were new CPKC painted engines leading trains both east and west on the NS Chicago Line. So, the day on CSX ultimately became an afternoon on NS. So, we got on I69 and headed up toward Waterloo. As we exited at Waterloo, I heard over the scanner "INER 5903 departing Pleasant Lake eastbound". With our trains on NS still fairly far away, I called John up and asked him if he wanted to go a bit further north to the INER. He had never shot the INER before, so he gave it the greenlight and we continued north to Ashley. I assumed that the train would beat us to Steubenville before we would get there, so we worked that direction. We went up toward the connection at Steubenville and noticed that an INER truck was parked at the switch, so the train had yet to reach the connection. We moved a crossing to the north, and there was our train. We had expected a normal freight. Well, we were very wrong. They were moving a part of the sanding tower in Pleasant Lake today. The train was shoving from Pleasant Lake to Steubenville, then would pull west toward Hudson. I say we made the right choice coming up here! A couple firsts for both John and I!
