Slope to Works. Here is an original photo that I took in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 6 June 1965. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #8674, #8671, and #8667. All are AS-18M road switchers built by the American Locomotive Company and rated at 1,800 horsepower each. #8674 and #8671 were constructed in March of 1958, while #8667 was built in February of the same year. In this context, they're puling a fully-loaded coal train down the Allegheny Mountains to the Eastbound Receiving Yard in Altoona. (#10 of 44) |
