Southern Pacific Railroad GP35R 6337 at Tucson, Arizona on November 21, 1985, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Built in June 1965 as road number 7754 ( c/n 30161 ) on EMD Order 7789, it was almost immediately renumbered to 6651. During the late 1970's, it was rebuilt under contract by the Canadian National to GP35R 6337. It later became CDAC 514, and later still became LTEX 514. When SP's GP35 fleet came due for overhaul, one GP35 was rebuilt by SP as a prototype to draw up plans for outside contractors, that locomotive became 6300. Locomotives 6302-6323 and 6353-6361 were rebuilt by Morrison-Knudsen, and designated GP35E. Locomotives 6324-6352 were rebuilt by the Canadian National and designated GP35R. |
