IC 2-8-0 #683 - Illinois Central
Description:
Beautiful original photo of the 1903 Rogers 2-8-0 Consolidaton built for the Illinois Central. Specs - Class 651, 56.5" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 20x28" cylinders, engine weight of 183,000 lb, tractive effort of 33,699 lb. Rebuilt by IC shops in 1920 - superheater added, slide valves were replaced by 9" piston valves that were driven by Baker radial valve gear. unknown photographer

Description:
Sadly, it appears that Illinois Central 2-8-0 ten wheeler #719 is sitting in a scrap line at the IC Paducah Yards. An original Don Morice negative now in my collection was used to make the photo. History - Rogers, 1902 Specs - 56.5" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 20x28" cylinders, engine weight of 183,000 lb, tractive effort of 33,699 lb. The class went through a rebuild by the IC Paducah shops in 1920.
