Description:  On cloudy day on May 3,1997 Union Pacific's A/ROKS is eastbound at Springville on the former D&RGW Mainline. Southern Pacific's merger with Union Pacific is 8 months old at this date.UP has implemented a new train symbol system,The former Rio Grande Lines was the first to have this system. UP will soon pull the plug on this train going across the old D&RGW only to be rerouted across the Overland Route through Wyoming.

Here two Burlington Northern SD60M's 9274,9214 and Southern Pacific SD45 No.7452 head up a short lived Iron Ore Train DVGVC. Back in 1993 Burlington Northern and Southern Pacific pooled power on an Iron Ore Train between Denver and Geneva Steel.

Worthy of your attention is SP 7457, rebuilt 9/82 from SP 8800, the very first of SP's eventual 357 unit fleet of SD45s, the largest of any railroad.
