Title:  On the crossing
Description:  I was at home working on some project or another when I heard a horn, which sounded like it was coming from a northbound. I got myself organized and out, thinking where I might shoot a northbound in the middle of the day with its unfavorable sun angle. I settled on Davidson Rd, since it gives a good side angle. Then I saw the train, an empty 124 car TXUX coal train, with six units up front. There was no way I was going to capture the whole power consist, never mind any train, so I went for the lights, in this case, crossing flashers, as the head end crossed over Davidson Rd.

I was used to seeing the lift plow boards when I lived in upstate NY-there are A LOT of them on the D&H-but it seems somehow odd here in Oklahoma, where a foot of snow in a year is a lot. I had to finish up a couple of things at home before I could take off, and the train was already clearing Lincoln Av by the time I got close enough to see it. What with school buses, traffic and lights, I was not able to catch up to him til Y City Rd south of Decatur. Three units lead north in late day sun.
