Here is the photo on page 38 of a 40-page book published by Louis T. Henderson entitled "Trains: A Children's Picture Book Of Trains And Stories About Them." It was issued originally in 1935. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #3844, #5223, #5214, and three more locomotives whose numbers are not recorded. All were constructed in Juniata. Engine #3844 is a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" built in March of 1923 and retired in December of 1949. Engines #5223 and #5214 are both K-2SA (4-6-2) "Pacifics": #5223 was built in October of 1912 and retired in February of 1931, while #5214 was built in February of 1912 and retired in July of 1936. |
