Description:  FM. Here is a duplicate 35mm B&W slide of a photo by Fred McLeod that was taken near Gallitzin, Pennsylvania. Photo Caption: "A K-4 Pacific giving a diesel a boost up to Gallitzin. Train No. 13. Fall, 1950." Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #3874, #5851, and an E-7 "B" unit whose road number is not recorded. #3874 is a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" built in Juniata in June of 1923 and retired in April of 1956. #5851 is an EP-20 built by GM-EMD in August of 1947 and rated at 2,000 HP. This photo comes from a slide set entitled "Horseshoe Curve, Pennsylvania Railroad" that's produced and distributed by Blackhawk Films of Davenport, Iowa (22-25).

Caption On Reverse: "Pennsy K-4 scrap at Crestline, Ohio, October '55." Prominent here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #3874, a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" built in Juniata during June of 1923 and retired in April of 1956 after 33 years of faithful service. Partially visible at the right is one of the PRR's Q-2 (4-4-6-4) "Duplex" locomotives; it's headed to the Recycling Center too!
