"John Stevens," 0-4-0, 1925 |
Description: |
Vintage. Here is a photo of a replica of the "John Stevens ~ First Steam Locomotive ~ 1825." This replica was fabricated at the Altoona Works. Despite the pistons and cog wheels, this locomotive is basically just a wagon with a boiler and a water barrel. The "John Stevens" replica is now on exhibit at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania in Strasburg. |

"John Stevens," 0-4-0, 1963 |
Description: |
Vintage. Here is an original photo that I took at the Strasburg Railroad site in Strasburg, Pennsylvania, on 11 August 1963. Shown here is a replica of the "John Stevens ~ First Steam Locomotive ~ 1825." This replica was fabricated at the Altoona Works. Despite the pistons and cog wheels, this locomotive is basically jusr a wagon with a boiler and a water barrel. Not much attention was paid to crew comfort either! This replica is now on exhibit at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania. |
