Description: |
AHC. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide by an unidentified photographer that was taken at the Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 30 May 1969. Shown here (L to R) are Penn Central Railroad engines #2233, #6066, #6077, and another unit whose number is not recorded. All were built by GM-EMD for the Pennsylvania Railroad; their PRR road numbers were the same. #2233 is a GP-30 built in April of 1963, rated at 2,250 horsepower, and presently on display (in Conrail colors!) at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania in Strasburg. #6066 and #6077 are both SD-40's built in February of 1966 and rated at 3,000 horsepower each. Here, they are pulling a TrucTrain around the Curve and up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin, Pittsburgh, and points West. |
