Description:  Have you ever read The Maine Two Footers? It was written in this station. Linwood Moody was dispatcher for the BML at the time and wrote the draft between dispatching and handleing LCL freight. The building is in splended condition having just gotten a fresh coat of paint... ((I wounder how many it has had applied over the years?)) /DL

Title:  Looking east
Description:  This is Waldo Tank. The foundation to the left once held an enclosed - heated in the winter - water tank. Not really visible in this scene is the Xing for 'Tank Stream Road' in the distance. MP B-8 is just a few feet behind the camera. /DL

The Bog
Title:  The Bog
Description:  If I'm keeping my geography properly aligned this is just east of MP B-9. The hi-rail is crossing a large bog. The RR had problems for years with the track settling here. The original RR was built on a corduroy foundation of logs sunk into the bog then covered with ballast. The logs are still there and as long as they stay underwater they'll remain solid. The settling problem was solved by removing the old cinder ballast and placing 12 foot ties over crushed stone ballast. The RR did this work itself with a 40 man work crew about 1970. /DL

Start here
Title:  Start here
Description:  At the bottom of this frame is a cement marker in the middle of the track. The MEC placed these at the start of each curve for reference. Maine Winters push these things around and they tend to rise up a little from year to year. I have never seen one that hasn't had the top pounded with a sledge so it won't hit on a traction motor. The Whistle Post is for Rt 131 on behind the camera. /DL

Littlefield Road Xing in the distance

Box 'n Arch together
Title:  Box 'n Arch together
Description:  The MEC leased and operated over the BML for 40 or 50 years. Their engineering folks said they'd never heard of a stone arch and box culvert paired together in the same structure anywhere.... Can anyone challenge this statement?? /DL

Title:  Westbound
Description:  The BML kept a 70 toner in this building at the end of the freight era as most of the traffic was on the west end of the system between Burnham Jct and the grain mill here in Thorndike. The cars are peddle powered track cars you can rent for a few dollars. /DL
