Album Info:Here is a ten-page article entitled "Under Pennsy Wires." It was published originally in the January 1942 issue of "Railroad" magazine, pages 51-60. No author is specified. "Most costly improvement program in the history of American railroading is the Pennsylvania's $200.000.000 electrification project ~ linking New York City with Washington D.C., and Harrisburg, Pa. No managerial whim was the road's decision, back in the middle '20's, to embark upon this ten-year installation involving the suspension of more than 26,000 miles of catenary; the designing and construction of a 211-unit motive-power fleet; and the alteration of existing terminal and signaling plants to make full use of the benefits accruing from electric traction."
