Viewing Album:  Railfanning the Cowboy State; Glendo and Orin Junction, Wyoming [A.K.A: Pumpkins Moving Coal..]

Album Info:BNSF's line between Orin Junction and Glendo is amazingly busy with coal traffic and one of those 'unknown gems' I had been relatively close to but knew little about. The little town of Glendo sits on a watershed divide which reduces many a move to a crawl getting over the hump. There is a direct exit off I-25 to Glendo, and the old highway, now a frontage road, goes north all the way to Orin and parallels the BNSF main, allowing great access for many of the photos taken here. Morning photography would be especially good as this is a north-south alighnment. Nearby Glendo State Park would be a good place to set up a 'photography base camp' for those so inclined, and as well, there are hotels in Glendo and Douglas for those contemplating more civilized stays. With the 'discovery' of this busy and scenic part of Wyoming I started this album to showcase some photos from a place I will be visiting more often.

Description:  BNSF 6132 and her accompanying 70ACe are putting a great show for this photographer as they go all out at a crawl to get thier train over the watershed divide at Glendo. I had pulled off the highway and waited a bit to get this shot and had it framed up perfectly when...just as i got the shot a passing car stirred up some dust clouding my shot and eliciting a few words of my own....Oh, well...cant win 'em all the time...

Description:  The 'icing on a great day's cake', 'caught this sweet view of a BNSF sitting at the passing siding north of Glendo as i was making my way home. My timing was good, in the next 15 minutes I would get a great series of mainline action photos!

Description:  Wide open Wyoming spaces make trains look small...at Orin Jct. One EB coaler overtakes another. Within a few minutes the second train too, moved out east. {Photo taken from US hwy 18 with about 1/4 mile separation. Be careful here as road shoulders are practically nil and oncoming traffic does not necessarily slow down!!}
